Colchester is historically an Army Town with the largest settlement of military personal within the Borough of Colchester in Essex, England. The current population is estimated at 104,500 it has been noted for being one of Britain's fastest going Towns. It is ideally placed next to the A12 comprising mostly of a dual carriageway highway running from the outskirts of London to as far as Great Yarmouth in Norfolk East Anglia with some 52 miles (84 kilometers) of road network.

Colchester also has good Rail links through the Great Eastern Main line visiting through Chelmsford and Shenfield finishing at Liverpool Street, London. Colchester is seen as a popular town for commuters, it is also only 30 miles from London Stansted Airport.

Amazingly Colchester is recorded to be the oldest Town in Britain discovered by the Roman. It was for a time the capital of Roman Britain. Today remains of their occupancy can still be seen from a castle and various other ruins. The Castle now holds the Towns Museum, which is a must to see if you are in the area.

The local Market, it is claimed, is the oldest on record within the United Kingdom; it is open for trade in the high street every Friday and Saturday.
